I believe the body has the ability and the knowledge to heal itself on all levels. When you have a cut your body gets to work to create a scab to protect the exposed area. If there is a build up of waste matter accumulating, the immune system may decide it is time to clean up. It then provokes, say, a cold, or some other mucous discharge to flush out the obstruction, calling forth an army of bacteria to help dispose of the stuff. There are endless ways that our body works to protect and heal us….

So why don’t we trust our bodies wisdom?

We live in a society that encourages the “masking” of symptoms so we can feel better fast and get back to our busy lifestyles. Unfortunately, that is the problem. We keep going and going and expect our bodies to keep up, without giving it proper rest, relaxation and comfort. It is so important to get to the root of the problem if we want to heal. If we keep masking the small symptoms, your illness will get bigger and bigger until you address the real issue.

Louise Hay is an inspiration to me. Her little book “Heal Your Body” is like my bible. It lists the mental causes of physical illness andthe metaphysical way to overcome them. Anytime I am struggling with a physical problem, I immediately turn to her book and look up what I am experiencing. I have always resonated with the core emotional issue behind it. I find it empowering to have an answer and I get to work on changing my thoughts and addressing why I am experiencing whatever discomfort has arisen for me. I will create an index card with the problem, the emotional source and the affirmation that assists you in changing that pattern. I carry the card around with me, prop it up on my desk, or somewhere where I will see it often to keep my energy and my thoughts focused on the healing & I continue to affirm my well being. For what you think, you become.

Maybe you suffer from Migraines as I used to. Migraines are all about the “dislike of being driven, resisting the flow of life”. Before Ilearned to say “no” and make sure my schedule is balanced with enough time for work, play and rest, I would get a crippling migraine that would last for days. Since I have acknowledged the problem and taken steps to balance my life, I have cut the frequency of my migraines by 90%. I started a daily yoga practice, which lengthens and strengthens my neck and centers and calms my energy and nervous system. I say no when I mean no. I take time to do nothing and relax if I need to without guilt. If I do feel a migraine coming on, I have become so in tune with my body that I know it is telling me to slow down, sit and breathe. So I take the time to do just that. The affirmation we use for migraines is: “I relax into the flow of lifeand let life provide all that I need easily & comfortably. Life is for Me!”

I’ve worked with a lot of people, including myself, who are experiencing anxiety recently. Anxiety is about “not trusting the flow &process of life”. For me, unplugging from the media and incessant opinions of others is helpful in keeping me centered and balanced but sometimes that irrational fear creeps up on me. When that happens I affirm: “I love & approve of myself and I trust the process of life. I Am safe.” And I spend a few minutes focusing on my breath, I remind myself that I am safe and that this too shall pass.

The point here is not to judge your self and your “issues”, to love yourself exactly as you are. It may be a minute to minute challenge or you may go days with feeling great and then something knocks you off your track…..get back up and keep trying, you are worth it. Life is all about change, embrace that and step into the flow of your life and allow it to unfold as a beautiful dance.

May you listen to your body’s wisdom and love your self into healing….Be well!

"Your body is a temple, but only if you treat it as one.”

This is a wonderful video of Louise Hay talking about how your thoughts create your reality ~ Enjoy!

I don’t consider myself much of a writer but who knows where this journey is taking me. I never thought I’d ever get this website up and nowlook at me. It is my intention to update this page with thoughts, ideas, healing wisdom I want to share and much more so please check back. I was really excited when I found this template for my site.It speaks to me in so many ways that I thought might be the first thing I could share with you. Anyone who already knows me well knows I am a bit of a bird lady. I love birds, especially owls & doves…..so when I saw this, with the 3 doves (also a very significant number for me) wrapping healing & peace around the world, it spoke to me. I have named my practice after the Welsh Goddess Rhiannon, who I am very connected to. One of the legends of Rhiannon is that she is the Goddess of birds and steeds, and her 3 healing birds come to you when you need healing and send you into a deep, gentle sleep….and when you awaken you are healed and if you are lucky you just might see them flying away. So this imagery felt perfect to me. I am passionate to offer the gentle yet deeply powerful healing of Reiki. I believe that once people receive and are attuned to Reiki, it raises their vibration, they are consciously responsible for the energy they put out to the world which in turn raises the energy of the planet….and I think we can all agree, we could use a little energy raising & consciousness around here, right? So, that is why I teach Reiki, that is how I serve and give back to a Universe who has so graciously gifted me with so much. I will leave you with one of my favorite quotes by the greatpoet Hafiz: “Even after all this time…The sun never says to the earth, ”You owe Me.” Look what happens with a love like that, it lights the Whole Sky.”
